Acquired in 1947 by Mr. Palmerindo Miranda, the property was divided among his children after he passed away. His son, José Mauro Miranda, a coffee producer, inherited part of the property known as "Sítio Estouros". He is currently responsible for managing the farm.
The property has four springs and a river that crosses the entire property and has a beautiful waterfall. With rough topography, between 900 and 1200 meters high and with a reforested area of six hectares, the riverbeds are protected by ciliary woods. The farm's average annual temperature is 15º C and annual average rainfalls reach 1500mm. The property has its own headquarters with all the equipment required to make quality coffees, and borders with the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park.
Coffee processing system
Coffee beans are picked manually, in order to generate jobs. After the beans are picked, coffee is washed and immediately transferred to the pulper. The water used in this phase is totally recycled using decanting tanks. Subsequently, the beans are transferred to the cement terraces to dry, where they are separated according to quality. After the quality selection, lots are maintained separated and stored in warehouses.
Concern with quality
Sítio Estouros is always searching for methods to improve its coffee quality, from planting to harvesting. Mr. José Mauro Miranda is a member of the Associação dos Produtores de Cafés Especiais de Araponga [Specialty Coffee Producers Association of Araponga], where lectures and courses are offered for its members to improve the quality of their coffees.
