Fazenda do Rosário was inherited by José Ribeiro de Carvalho, its current owner, and has over 100 years of tradition in coffee plating. It is located in an area known for the high quality of its coffees. A pioneer in the Municipality of Dom Viçoso, it has a perfect combination of latitude and altitude (between 850 and 1350 meters), with well-defined seasons, typical of mountainous climates - and ideal conditions for excellent coffee cultivation. He selects the coffee varieties that are planted in the farm, to guarantee the finest quality of the cups. The varieties planted at Fazenda do Rosário are: Mundo Novo, Catuaí, Acaiá and Icatu, which are cultivated using the most appropriate sustainable agriculture technologies.
Coffee processing system
Most of the coffee is picked manually and the beans are transported to the processing area where they are washed, pulped and spread on the terraces. Beans are dried under the sun and in revolving dryers.
Concern with quality
Fazenda do Rosário utilizes modern and environmentally friendly processing technologies to guarantee coffee quality and to preserve the environment. Furthermore, the farm has a nursery to cultivate new coffee plants that will be used at planting time.
Partnerships and associations
Fazenda do Rosário is a member of Specialty Coffee Land, an association of approximately forty farms of average size located in the mountainous areas of Southern Minas Gerais and West of the Cerrado of the State of Bahia.
