During the 19th Century, British companies exploited gold in the region of Serra das Cabeças [Das Cabeças Mountain Range]. Since the 1950s the region has been a coffee producer.

Fazenda Serra das Cabeças has an extremely adequate microclimate; in seventy percent of its area the humid dark red latosol predominates, with good fertility and average acidity. It has excellent physical structure, the soil provides a very good development for coffee production. In the balance of the area, the latosol with rocky leveling in its higher parts.

The maximum altitude is 1,420 meters, and the average altitude is 1,300 meters. The property is surrounded by mineral water sources and by an environmental protection area - which represents almost one third of the farm's total area - and which the owner takes strict measures to preserve it.

The farm has constantly produced better quality coffees year after year, as a result of investments in quality and technology. Today the gold that is exploited in the farm does not come from its subsoil, it grows on coffee trees.

This is an increasing and permanent concern for the owner and his staff. Since 1998, Fazenda Serra das Cabeças defined as its focus of operation the production of high quality coffees in detriment of high productivity. The goal is to produce the best coffees of Brazil.

This commitment has already brought Fazenda Serra das Cabeças two Cup of Excellence awards and a third place at the Illy Quality Coffee Contest.

Constantly working toward improving production, harvesting and post-harvesting processes through well succeeded national and international experiences, the support of specialists and the owners' know-how have ensured Fazenda Serra das Cabeças very good results.
