The farm belongs to the Rigo Family for more than 30 years. Souza's father, Osvaldo de Mello Rigo, of Portuguese and Italian descent, dedicated his life to coffee production and commercialization. When he passed away, 16 years ago, his daughter Renata continued his work, becoming the farm's manager, responsible for its coffee production and commercialization. The name of the farm, "Santo Antônio do Ribeirão do Meio", is from the time Renata's father ran the farm, and Renata, a very religious and traditional person, decided to maintain it.
The property is located in the region of the Mountains of Espírito Santo, in the Municipality of Conceição do Castelo, at a distance of 130 kilometers from Vitória, Capital City of the State of Espírito Santo. It is at an altitude that varies between 800 and 1000 meters. There are 35 hectares of the Atlantic Rain Forest in the farm, rich in springs and typical animals and plants of the Rain Forest.
Coffee processing system
Coffee is picked manually, on screens and cloth, because of the rough topography, and also to enable selecting the cherry beans. On the same day coffee is picked, it is washed and the cherry beans are separated. Coffee is dried in a dryer built at the property. Coffee in pergamino is bagged and stored in bins.
Concern with quality
Planting is made in a densed and semi-densed system, harvesting is manual and selective, pulped natural cherry coffee is prepared by the wet method, and coffee is dried in a dryer. Coffee in pergamino is bagged and stored in stacks in the farm's bins.
"To be among the finalists of the Cup of Excellence Contest was an enriching experience for our family, especially because this was the first time that we took part in this contest. This makes us proud of our achievements and gives us the determination to continue to improve more and more." Renata Vargas Rigo de Souza.
