Sítio Lenice was acquired in 1983 by its current owner, Milton Faria Bonette. It is located in one of the subdivisions of the Mantiqueira Mountain Range called "Pedra Branca", which gave origin to the name of the municipality: Pedralva.

In the lands of Sitio Lenice and its surroundings, there are black rocks of volcanic origin, usually called "remove fire". Sitio Lenice's areas have a large fauna and flora diversity. Its microclimate is clearly different from the climate of the city and of the lower areas. The higher part of the mountain range is 1480 above sea level, and Sitio Lenice is at an altitude of 1180 meters.

During many years, Mr. Bonette noted that after the coffee was picked it was always left for three or four days in burlap bags, and then transported to the terrace. When dried, and as the coffee was prepared, cups were hard.

In 1999, Sitio Lenice took part in the Illy Caffe contest and was among the finalists; in 2003 it was awarded the eight place in the 5th Concurso de Qualidade Cafés do Brasil [Quality Contest "Cafes do Brasil"].

Coffee processing system

Coffee is picked selectively in three stages. Firstly, only the ripe beans are transported to the mechanical washer, which separates the good beans, including those that will be transferred to the cherry pulper. Subsequently, the beans are dried on the terrace.

Concern with quality

The owner has always been concerned with the quality of his product, and follows recommendations from the Municipality's agronomist, who visits the property from time to time.

Respecting individuals and the environment, no pesticides are used. The farm uses only organic products, which in their majority are from the surrounding natural resources.
