Francisco Turra Nunes inherited from his father, who died in 1980, part of the land he had bought to raise cattle. The property was divided into three parts between Francisco and his brothers, João and Ataíde, and each one of them manages his own farm. Since then, Francisco and his family are dedicated to coffee growth.

Afonso Cláudio is known as the "City of the Waterfalls", and is still covered by a large part of the Atlantic Rain Forest, with its rich diversity of plants and animals.

Coffee processing system

The cherry coffee beans are picked and pulped on the same day. The beans are dried on a covered cemented terrace (hot house). Subsequently, the coffee is bagged in pergamino, and stored in bins at the farm.

Concern with quality

Francisco's concern with quality begins when the coffee is planted and continues until it is bagged and stored. The main quality factors are the care extended to the beans when they are on the terrace during the drying phase, where the coffee is spread in thin layers and rotated more than 20 times a day.

In recent years there was also more investments in quality: Francisco acquired a drier and built a covered terrace. The results of the combined actions are that for the first time the coffee produced at the farm was classified among the Cup of Excellence finalists.
