José Davino Gomes's family comes from generations of handcraft tile producers who have been in the region since the end of the 19th Century. Currently, with the same tradition, the family produces quality coffees in the Mountains of Espírito Santo.
The region fascinates for the beauty of Parque do Caparaó, where the third highest mountain of Brazil is located - Pico da Bandeira - and for its many water sources, waterfalls, rocky mountains and private reserves of the Atlantic Rain Forest.
In addition to the coffee plantation, the owner possess together with his wife and children a small roasting company (Café Teeiro), and works with agro-tourism, receiving visitors that want to learn about the daily tasks involved in coffee production at the farm.
The property's facilities (pulper, drier, covered terraces and other) are also used by his son, Wesley Isac Nóia Gomes, who also had a coffee lot classified among the finalists of the 2004 Cup of Excellence Contest.
Coffee processing system
The cherry coffee beans are picked and pulped on the same day. The beans are dried on a covered cemented terrace (hot house system), and subsequently the coffee is bagged in pergamino and stored at the bins at the farm.
Concern with quality
Jose Davino's concern with quality begins at the plantations and is intensified during harvesting and after harvesting. The sanitation of the covered terrace and the constant rotation of the coffee beans - which are spread in thin layers - ensure its differentiated quality.
