An Italian immigrant, Mr. Evandro Cisconetti's great grandfather arrived in Brazil at the end of the 19th Century. He went to live in the town of Alfredo Chaves and soon later moved to Castelo, where he married and raised his family. His only son gave continuity to the work at the farm, now managed by his grandchildren Evandro, Vanderley and Evanildo, who maintain the family tradition in coffee production.
The farm has a five-hectare forest reserve and the family is concerned with maintaining and recovering the water sources, their contribution to preserve the native species of the Atlantic Rain Forrest.
Coffee processing system
The cherry beans are picked and pulped on the same day. The harvesting period goes from April to December, and there are 10 to 12 flowerings. The beans are dried on a covered terrace (hot house) and stored bagged in pergamino, in bins of the property.
Concern with quality
Coffee quality is favored by the altitude and climate of the farm. It is also emphasized by the upkeep of the plantation and the care exerted after the harvest. Selective harvesting, use of pure water from the water sources for the pulping process and constant care of the terraces are fundamental to obtain the desired results.
