Cícero Viegas Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, M.D. acquired Fazenda Esperanca in December 2002, and made his dreams come true. Since then, he has devoted his total attention to the farm. In addition to his career in Medicine, Coffee Production became his lifetime goal.
Fazenda Esperança is located in the Gaspar Mountain range, in the city of Carmo de Minas, State of Minas Gerais, and is part of the region of the old coffee farms of Southern Minas Gerais. Located at an altitude of 1,600m, it has a total area of 102.41 ha, of which 40 ha are totally for coffee plantations. Since the farm is located in high altitude lands, the results are high quality coffee production.
In 2002, Esperança was awarded the fourth prize in the Specialty Coffee Contest. With the required plantation upkeep, it was classified in second in the 2003 edition of the contest.
Dr. Cícero's wife, Mrs. Vanda Gonçalves, supervises all coffee production phases.
Silvio Roberto Nogueira de Castro (Bebeto) is responsible for the farm's administrative coordination. Bebeto, in addition to being an excellent coffee expert, loves coffee production. He is fully dedicated to his activities, as were his parents and grandparents before him.

Concern with quality
Together with the modern techniques and equipment of Fazenda Esperança, its quality control reflects the owners' concern in ensuring beans excellence.
In 2004, large structural works were performed at the farm, in order to optimize and improve quality control processes. Coffee quality has always been a top concern at the farm.
To meet quality needs, all recommended techniques are applied and all the pieces of equipment are leading edge. Agronomists and Cooperativa Regional dos Cafeicultores do Vale do Rio Verde [Regional Coffee Growers Cooperative of the Vale do Rio Verde] (Cocarive) provide the required technical support.
As it moves forward, there is greater quality, and the result of all such efforts is a coffee that is constantly growing in excellence.
