The property is located in a region with a long tradition of coffee production, currently with 1,500 producers in a planted area of approximately 20,000 hectares, with an annual production of about 400,000 processed bags. Recently, coffee processed by the pulped natural cherry coffee method and the creation of the Associação dos Produtores de Café Descascado de Piraju [Pulped Coffee Producers Association of Piraju] (PROCED), contributed to increase the quality of coffees produced in the region.

Furthermore, the region is ideal for ecotourism, because the City of Piraju has numerous waterfalls, trails and natural reserves, and is crossed by the Paranapanema River, one of the cleanest of the State of São Paulo.

The property is located on the Espigão da Serra da Fartura, a water divisor of the Paranapanema and Itararé Rivers, 900 meters high, in an Environmental Protection Area (EPA), which ensures a broad preservation of all natural resources. It has 100 hectares of plantations made within modern agronomic techniques, however without forgetting the old traditions of the Italian immigrants that peopled the region.

Defending the policy of settling people in rural zones, the farm has 15 employees who - together with their families - total 52 dwellers. The families have regular transportation to school and to health care units.

The Fávaro family manages the farm. In addition to Mr. Norival Fávaro, his sons, Marcos and Márcio, agronomists, are responsible for the technical aspects of the farm.

Coffee processing system

The Agronomists Márcio and Marcos, who count with their father's knowledge and experience, always supervise decisions concerning plantation and handling. Great improvements in quality were obtained with the adoption of the pulped natural cherry system in 1998, when the farm became a member of the select group of specialty coffee producers.

Concern with quality

The Associação dos Produtores de Café Descascado de Piraju [Pulped Coffee Producers Association of Piraju] - PROCED - is currently responsible for the excellent quality of the coffees produced in the region, providing technical support to production, promoting the re-education of producers toward coffee quality and environmental preservation. It also promotes a regional contest that is a showcase for the coffees of the region. The owner, Norival Favaro, and his children have had an important role in the foundation of PROCED. His son Marcos was the first president of the Association.
