In 1984, after his father's demise, Mr. Manoel Romualdo de Lima, the property was divided among Mr. Lima's children, and Mr. Itamar Duarte Ferreira inherited this part of the farm. Besides being the owner, Mr. Ferreira is a coffee producer, and is responsible for the farm's management.
The land is rough, from 1000 to 1100 meters high, with 10 hectares of forests, where there are three water sources, and the whole watercourse is protected by ciliary woods. The average annual temperature is 15ºC, and the average annual rainfalls are 1500mm.
Coffee processing system
Coffee is picked manually, to generate jobs. After the beans are picked, they are washed and subsequently placed in the cherry pulper. The water used during this phase is totally recycled, using a decanting tank. In the sequence, the beans are taken to be dried in cemented or suspended terraces where they are separated according to their quality. After the quality selection, the lots are maintained separated in warehouses.
Concern with quality
The owner is always seeking ways to further improve the quality of the farm's coffees, from implementing the plantations to harvesting. He is a member of the Associação dos Produtores de Cafés Especiais of Araponga, which gives courses and lectures for its associates to improve the quality of their coffees.
