The farm is a family inheritance, which already belonged to the current owner's grandfather and father. The employees are the same that worked for his father. Mr. Oliveira's father built brickwork houses for the employees with electric power, running water and sanitation, to replace the old lath-and-mud houses in which they lived. A partnership system was established with the employees, and currently these joint-sharers have houses in town, cars and a better quality of life, as a result of the system adopted at Sitio Pitangueiras.

Coffee processing system

Coffee is picked on cloth and immediately transferred to the terrace, where it is washed to separate the ripe beans from the green beans. After the beans are washed, the cherry coffee is pulped and spread on a terrace, where it is turned every twenty minutes during the drying period.

After drying, the lots are separated according with the cups, and are then bagged and stored in pergamino.

Concern with quality

Our concern with quality begins with planting the coffee, when we seek to preserve the water sources and the forest. Plantation is made according to the contour levels, under the directions of a technician. Soil analyses are made before fertilization and we do not use any pesticides.

Products based on calda viçosa are used to prevent diseases. Since the plantations are developed in the Mantiqueira Mountain Range, in very fertile lands and mild climate, there are no problems with pests.
