Sítio Redinha is located in the Municipality of Carmo de Minas - State of Minas Gerais, in the Southern Minas region, at an altitude varying between 950 meters and 1,120 meters. The age of the coffee plantations vary from one to four years, with good vegetal and phytosanitary conditions.

Jose Luiz Ribeiro and his employees are very concerned about preserving the Environment, especially with the coffee pulping system. The property has many water sources of excellent quality.

There are two recently built houses for the employees with running water and electricity. Each one of them has its vegetable garden where no pesticides are used. The farm's concern with its employees includes all aspects of their work including the handling of fertilizers and pesticides.

Coffee processing system

Coffee is picked manually on cloth and immediately after the coffee is washed in a mechanical washer with boia coffee separator. Subsequently the cherry beans are pulped and then the beans are spread on a concrete terrace in thin layers and turned at least twenty times during the day.

From the third day onwards, the beans are placed on the suspended terrace, which is covered during the night, until they reach their ideal point of humidity (11.5% of humidity), when they are placed in bins lined with wood for a 30 to 40 day period to rest.

Concern with quality

During the vegetative period the plantations receive appropriate upkeep, including nutrition (soil analysis and foliar analysis) and phytosanitary measures. Furthermore, weed is controlled.

The property receives technical assistance from EMATER - State of Minas Gerais and from the Technical Department of the cooperative COCARIVE in relation to pest and disease controls.
