Fazenda Mãe Bela, is located in the Municipality of Piatã - State of Bahia, in the Chapada Diamantina region, and has been producing coffee for over one hundred years, from the time it was managed by the grandparents of the current owner, Mr. José Jureande da Silva.

One of the marked characteristics of that region where Fazenda Mãe Bela is located is that most properties follow a family agriculture system, in which production responsibilities are transferred from fathers to sons.

Mr. da Silva intends to continue with this way of working, transmitting to his children the art o producing good coffees. Therefore, he has been working to further improve the quality of the beans of the economic activity, and also to build a solid base for his children to follow the same path.

Coffee processing system

Coffee produced at Fazenda Mãe Bela is processed by the pulped natural method using the humid system, in which pulping is done on a daily basis in two stages on the picked lots. After the selective harvesting, the beans are washed and separated into cherry, bóia, and green, and sand and other impurities are discarded. The beans are dried on cemented terraces or in driers of the burareiro type and in hot houses.

Concern with quality

All the processes carried out in the production phase receive the technical support of COOCAMP - Cooperativa Agrícola dos Cafeicultores do Município de Piatã and of ASCAMP - Associação dos Cafeicultores do Município de Piatã.
